EXTENSION OF THE TERMINAL T1 AT BARCELONA’S AIRPORT

10/2019

The extension of the southern side of the Terminal T1 at Barcelona’s Airport continues.

The works include the construction of the new steel structures that connect the Terminal to the planes (including the cladding works) and the construction of the concrete slab in the mezzanine of the Terminal.

The mezzanine is comprised of trussed beams spanning 18mx18m with a composite top chord. The beams rest on the existing concrete columns, which have been refurbished with an external self-compacting concrete to increase their resistance and stiffness.

The Project was done by FHECOR Ingenieros Consultores and INECO in 2018, and it is being executed by SACYR with a 30 million euros budget. These works aim to increase the capacity of the Airport to operate international flights with very big planes.
