The second tower of the main cable-stayed bridge in the Cebu-Cordova Link Expressway (CCLEX), in the Philippines, has reached its final height, 145 meters. This achievement is an important milestone in the construction of the bridge, which deck is being erected by the balanced cantilever method.

FHECOR Ingenieros Consultores carried out the Independent Checking Engineering of the whole project bridges, including the main bridge. The main span of this cable-stayed bridge is 390m long. The concrete deck is almost 27m wide, and it is supported by a single set of cables in its centerline, anchored to the towers. Together with the heavy lateral forces produced by the typhoons and the earthquakes in this region, these outstanding dimensions made CCLEX a remarkably challenging project.

The project is financed and promoted by the Cebu-Cordova Link Expressway Corporation (CCLEC). The design engineering of the bridges was provided by SENER and Carlos Fernández Casado (CFCSL), and the construction works are being carried out by the joint venture between ACCIONA Infraestructuras, First Balfour and DM Consunji.
