PUBLIC PRESENTATION OF THE NEW BRIDGE OVER THE CANAL OF CASTILE

04/2021

Last week, the bridge project that FHECOR is currently designing over the Canal of Castile in Naveros de Pisuerga (Palencia) was presented to the press. It is a curved bridge with two spans and variable depth whose main span of 65 meters will be built by successive cantilevers to minimize the impact on the Canal.

The project includes an alternative to the current PP-6112 road, removing an accident blackspot, and the rehabilitation of Lock 13 of the Canal, the old mill, and the lockman's house, which FHECOR is carrying out in JV with the architect Jesús Castillo Oli's studio.
It is a project promoted by the Palencia Provincial Council, partially funded by the Ministry of Transport, that has arisen from the impetus given to the project by the president of the Provincial Council, Ángeles Armisén, and the mother of one of those who died in a car accident at this point.

The project presentation ceremony, held on April 14 in Naveros de Pisuerga, was attended by the president of the Provincial Council, the president of the Duero Hydrographic Confederation, the Government delegate in Castilla y León, and the provincial delegate in Palencia.

FHECOR is proud to participate in this project, which will help improve road safety and recover and praise the works of the Canal de Castile, a historical infrastructure of great importance to Spanish engineering from the 18th and 19th centuries.
