The new bridge over Wawa river, placed close to the town of Puerto Cabezas (Nicaragua), has a total length of 255m divided in three spans of 57.5+140+57.5m. It has a total width of 15.3m, allowing to accommodate a two-lanes roadway with pedestrian walkways on each side.

The deck is a continuous post-tensioned box girder monolithically connected with the piers, built with balanced cantilever construction in segments of 5m. The minimum depth of the deck at mid-span is 2.80m and the maximum depth over the piers is 7.00m.

The piers are founded with 1.50m piles with a total length of 18m and 24m respectively.

Together with the structural design, FHECOR is responsible of the design of the alignment, the hydraulic analysis and the definition of the geotechnical parameters used in the design.
