On Wednesday, July 16, writer Manuel Vilas participated in the course "Cities and Bridges", organized by the Fhecor Foundation and the Menéndez Pelayo International University, with a presentation entitled "Give Me Back the Beauty of the World." Manuel left us with memorable quotes in a lecture that offered a very personal take on the world of bridges and cities from a literary perspective. Two of these quotes are the following: “A bridge is an amendment to nature, a correction to nature, and therefore, engineers are obliged to make bridges beautiful. Nature cannot be corrected with ugliness.” “If Lou Reed is on the other side of a bridge, I'll cross it. In fact, I'd be the first to cross it. But if barbarism, unfreedom, and savagery are on the other side, I won't cross it. I'd rather blow it up.”
