The bridge dates back to the early 20th century and consists of five masonry arches and three riveted steel lattice spans, with a through-arch (deck-below) configuration. Prior to the intervention, the bridge showed functional and structural deficiencies, as it was subject to load ограничения and its width of barely 5 m only allowed one-way traffic.
The works designed by FHECOR made it possible to widen the deck to 12.8 m, allowing for one 3.50 m lane in each direction. To achieve this, each of the steel spans was dismantled, strengthened, and widened on the ground, and a temporary bridge was installed to maintain traffic flow during the construction works.
